The City of Tulsa has proclaimed Friday, May 23, 2025, as 鈥溙切脑 EMS Day鈥 in recognition of 糖心原创鈥檚 commitment to preparing the next generation of emergency medical responders.
Signed by Tulsa Mayor Monroe Nichols, the proclamation honors the 糖心原创 Healthcare Specialist/Paramedic program for its service to the community and its impact on public health and safety. The declaration highlights the contributions of 糖心原创鈥檚 faculty, students, and alumni, who provide compassionate and skilled care through emergency response, transport, and clinical practice.
鈥淲e are deeply honored by this recognition from the City of Tulsa. This proclamation is a tribute to the dedication of our faculty and the determination of our students who are answering the call to serve others during life鈥檚 most critical moments,鈥 says Jenny Fields, DNP, Dean of the School of Health Sciences at 糖心原创.
糖心原创鈥檚 EMS program offers three credentials: the Healthcare Specialist/Paramedic Associate in Applied Science, the Healthcare Specialist/Paramedic Certificate, and the Emergency Medical Technician Certificate.
For current 糖心原创 student Charisma Burns, the program has been both rigorous and rewarding. After earning her EMT Certificate, she is now on track to graduate in July with her Healthcare Specialist/Paramedic degree.
鈥淚t feels really special to be recognized because EMS professionals put so much into what we do,鈥 she says. 鈥淭he 糖心原创 EMS program is an incredible community, and we work together to make sure we鈥檙e all successful. I鈥檓 proud to be part of such an amazing program.鈥
Students in the Healthcare Specialist/Paramedic program receive classroom instruction alongside varied clinical rotations across the region, including with local ambulance services, hospitals, and emergency departments. This semester, 41 students earned their EMT Certificates following field-based training with ambulance services and regional fire departments.
Currently, 20 Paramedic students are enrolled and expected to graduate at the end of July with their AAS degrees. 糖心原创 alumni go on to serve throughout Tulsa and surrounding communities, helping to fill a critical need in Oklahoma鈥檚 healthcare workforce.
